I wish to build my portfolio in different branches of photography. So last spring semester, I was excited to learn Studio Lighting for Product Photography from Mr. Maxwell Crumley at West Valley College. Below were my submissions for some of our assignments.

My Nieces at the Park

My nieces visited from the Philippines last month. I took the rare opportunity to photograph them and play with my camera. Ahhh... it was nice to be clicking the shutter again, and photographing my favorite people.

I'm Back... from Our Wedding

It has been over a year since I last posted an entry --- and for a good reason. I was preparing for MY OWN wedding. I held off on everything photography-related during the 10-month period that I did nothing but plan for the big event.
Being the aspiring photographer that I am, I did not request our professional photographer to shoot our wedding details. Thinking that I have more time to do them myself, and that this will allow us more time to shoot people rather than things during the day itself.
So here are some of my favorite shots of my favorite items during the biggest day of my life.

Elle is ready for the Holidays

I always have fun photographing my goddaughter, Elle. This weekend's photoshoot was no exception. We visited Hakone Garden in Saratoga, hoping to capture some fall colors. Although we didn't see a lot of oranges and yellows, it was still great spending time with my goddaughter, and her mom, my good friend Rho.

They love each other so much that they married each other twice --- this time, to renew their vows at the altar. The bride, Cecile, is S.O.'s older sister. I thank her and Jonathan for allowing me to capture this significant event in their lives.

My Goddaughter, Elle

We spent all day Sunday with my goddaughter, Elle, and her mom, our good friend, Rho. We were surprised at how big Elle has grown, and how well she works the camera, showing her different faces, at age three. Yes, three! (Oh and by the way, she had a 100-degree fever on this day.)

Workshop with Augie Chang

Two days ago, I attended a photography workshop given by one of the best wedding photographers in the bay area, Augie Chang. I attended his Introduction to Digital Photography Workshop last February with my good friend, Emma, and I decided to continue on and take Part II, which was 95% hands-on. It was great. Reviewed basic photography concepts, learned a few tips and tricks, and made a lot of new friends who have the same passion as I do. Some photos of our beautiful model, Janessa.

Hearst's Zebras

John and I, together with John's sister and brother-in-law spent the weekend at Pismo Beach, CA. We decided to visit Hearst Castle, about an hour drive from Pismo, and found these amazing animals cruising along Highway 1. I believe these zebras are owned by William Randolph Hearst. Lesson learned: Always take the camera with you --- you never know what may come your way.

Worldwide Photowalk

On July 18, 2009, I joined 32,000+ photographers all over the world in the 2nd Annual Scott Kelby's Worldwide Photowalk. I met with 49 other photographers in Gordon Biersch Brewery in downtown San Jose, CA, and went around to shoot. More photos taken during the photowalk can be found here.

The Brides I have Photographed

As you know, I have been privileged to second shoot for my wedding photographer friend, Alfred Salom of Alfred Salom Photography, based in San Francisco bay area. It has been almost a year since I did my first wedding shoot with ASP. Except for the last two, below are pictures of some of the brides I have photographed with him. The bottom two are Terri (S.O.'s sister) and Annalou (my cousin).

My Nieces and Nephew

These photos were taken November 2008, during my short trip to the Philippines. Some of my most favorite kids to photograph --- my dear nieces and nephew. I have 8 nieces and a nephew. First photo has all of them, plus my Mom (Mama Lou) and my brother, Nino, the biggest kid in the family.

Remember the days when your mom would cut your hair, and you thought that that was the only way to do it? I'm glad those days are over, at least for me. My Mom, who believes she's the best hairdresser in the world has finally found her next "victim". My dear nephew... Matt-Matt. I sympathize with you, baby. Been there, done that. I know how it feels. We spent Memorial Day weeekend with S.O.'s family in Sacramento. JR, John's first and only nephew, was playing at the backyard that afternoon. I couldn't help but grab my camera and take some snapshots of this little one, as we are gleeful that he is now confidently walking and running around, at 1 year and 4 months. Couture Shoot

A team of vendors got together to showcase their products and services. My colleagues at Alfred Salom Photography, (Alfred & Emma) invited me to a couture shoot with our friend, Rhoda, of Izabella MakeUp. A few other vendors chipped in for the success of the shoot: One World Designs for the accessories, and Trinity Flowers for the floral bouquet. Our models, Ashley and Evan, were kind enough to do a "pre-wedding" pictorial for us.

Yosemite National Park

Last month, we took my mom and my sister, who visited me from the Philippines, to Yosemite National Park. This park is a must-see. Spectacular views, awesome landscapes. I would have loved for us to hike and stay up the mountains, but this was a last minute trip and we only had a day to enjoy it.

Since we were already in the Napa Valley area for our dinner on Friday night, we thought of going around and visiting some wineries in Yountville the following day. We took a tour at Robert Mondavi, visited Opus One, and drove by others.

French Laundry

Yesterday, S.O. and I had the privilege of dining at one of the most renowned restaurants in California -- Three-Michellin Star recipient, French Laundry, located at Yountville, CA., owned by famous chef, Thomas Keller. The food was extra-ordinary and the experience was unforgettable.
